MERIGRAPH TYPE 32 PHOTOPOLYMER PLATEMAKER. This is a Photopolymer Platemaker that is designed to handle up to 8" x 10" plates. It produces high quality plates from negatives.

Dimensions: 13" h x 14" d x 23.5 w. Electrical: 115V 60Hz 6 Amp. This unit was acquired in a lot of industrial items. I have no history on the item. The only testing I did was plug in and it powers up fine.

The UV lamps in the drawers work so it appears it is functional. The cosmetics are nice, the exterior was cleaned. I did replace a cut power cord. Check images for details on condition.

The unit is very heavy. My guess is 50 pounds plus. Photopolymer plates have a light-sensitive surface on either plastic backing or metal backing.

A film negative is placed over the plate surface, secured with Kreene or a glass covering, and exposed to ultraviolet light. Where the light hits the plate, the plate is exposed and hardened.

What isnt exposed because its blocked by the black part of the film negative will be washed out by a solution; what is is exposed to the uv light hardens and will not wash away, leaving a relief surface from which to print.
