Printers, the brothers Reid-- J. Bruce boasts in the front matter, "We keep on hand the largest stock of type in the country, " amply shown in the pages that follow. His picture is tissue-guard protected opposite the title page. He also added, "Do Not Cut up this Book, " but printer's, devils that they are, paid no heed, so a few holes pop up here and there.
Page tops are uncut with paper rather dry and wrinkled with some light water staining. Some gutter splitting near front of book. Boards (very shelf-worn) appear to have been eggplant purple at one time but have turned quite dark, with leading edge on front cover black.
Gilt lettering there and on spine, which has dried to the point where said cover has separated and spine covering has fallen off, though still present.
