I removed and relisted with the correct pictures. Offered: 18 point Bernhard Gothic Medium this is new old stock (nos) letterpress type. This is a complete font includes original packaging of Caps, lowercase letters and figures. This is Hard Foundry Type cast by American Type Founders (ATF). Offerings may include photos of type packages with Kelsey Co.

Type is ATF cast type. Kelsey offered a line of type in their catalogs under the Connecticut Type Foundry line.

Label over the original ATF labeling. This was also listed by American Type Founders as ATF # 525. This is Hard Foundry Type and can also be used for hot foil stamping. This offering is set on a 36 pica line length which is approximately 6 inches. The font scheme for this offering is 10 - Cap A's, 24 - lowercase a's and 8 - figure 1's.

It is extremely hard to find new type showing up on the market now-a-days especially since ATF closed their doors in 1992-93. This is a great Sans-serif typeface for a multitude of uses. If you have this typeface in your shop you may want to check my additional listing. All of my holdings in Bernhard Gothic are being offered most of it is new old stock like this one.

I have some orphan packages of cap, lowercase and figures not enough for a complete font, but excellent for filling in any shortages you may have in your holdings. The following is reprinted from Mac McGrew's book "American Metal Typefaces of the Twentieth Century".

Bernhard Gothic was one of the first contemporary American sans-serifs, designed in 1929-30 by Lucian Bernhard for ATF to counter the importation of the new European designs such as Futura and Kabel. It features long ascenders and a number of unusual design details, which perhaps prevented it from achieving the popularity of other such faces. Capitals are low-waisted, with the crossbars or arms of the E, F, and H being below center.

M is widely splayed in some weights. Lowercase a is roman in design, and the cross-stroke of the t is wide and below the mean line. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions in regards to this offering.
